Applied Physics/Experimentalist

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Endra has developed a method and device for deep tissue thermoacoustic imaging that will directly address fundamental barriers to advancing the diagnostic value and expand the use of conventional ultrasound imaging.
We are seeking an applied physics/experimentalist to assist in the development of Endra’s thermoacoustic enhanced imaging technology. In this role, you will be responsible for working with Endra’s applied science group to build and perform phantom, in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo imaging experiments. The successful candidate will have a technical background in Endra’s key subject matter, strong experimental, metrology skills, modeling, and experience in designing and building imaging phantoms. The position will also support applications product teams in the field. Strong written and oral communication skills, and an ability to translate and communicate technical concepts to others in the team is an asset. This role reports directly to CTO at Endra.


  • Work with Endra scientists and engineers to test novel concepts and approaches in imaging experiments.
  • Develop experimental procedures and test objects to test new concepts
  • Documentation of experimental procedures and results
  • Contribute to Intellectual Property
  • Technical Applications support

Education and Experience:

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry (in progress or completed)
  • Experience working in experimental laboratory from concept to working system (imaging or RF systems preferred)

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with technical writing and conducting literature searches
  • Experience with patent process helpful
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Technical understanding in one or more of the following areas:
    • Acoustic, ultrasound, hyperthermia, or MR imaging
    • Modeling of systems
    • Experimental physics
    • data acquisition systems and electronic design
    • E&M field modeling, microwaves or RF engineering
