Build and Service Manager

Location: Ann Arbor, MI
ENDRA Life Sciences provides photoacoustic imaging systems to scientists for preclinical research applications. The systems combine features of optical and ultrasound imaging to provide optical contrast with high resolution at depth. Investigators throughout the world use the systems for drug discovery, the development of molecular probes, and disease research.
We are seeking a ‘hands on’, high bandwidth production and service manager, preferably with experience in managing a prototype build shop, or short run manufacturing process.  As part of their responsibilities for production management, the candidate will coordinate and manage a team of internal resources, contractors, and outsourced suppliers to manufacture ENDRA instrumentation.  These responsibilities will include all aspects of production including sourcing, supplier quality, production scheduling and shipment/delivery logistics.
The candidate will also be responsible for managing service operations for ENDRA. Working with internal resources, contractors and local distributors, the candidate will be responsible for service delivery to customers.  These responsibilities will include the development of service documentation, training and deployment of service tools.
Demonstrated ability to meet strict production timelines and successfully ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, is required.  
 
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Ownership of system build process
    • directly build systems
    • management of supply chain: parts, quality, build
    • production scheduling from sourcing to shipment
    • logistics to customer dock/pick up location
    • manage development of comprehensive production documentation in conjunction with engineering
  • Service
    • manage installation of new systems at customer sites
    • manage and train service technicians
    • work with distributor service technicians to deliver service in their geographical region
    • service deployment: diagnose, correct, deploy, prevent
    • manage development of comprehensive service documentation in conjunction with engineering
 
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • 7+ years experience in medical device, prototype or complex system production and service
  • Bachelor’s degree in materials management, procurement, manufacturing/production management, or engineering preferred
  • prior experience managing a production process and service teams
  • prior experience working in medical regulatory environment
  • experience implementing and driving process and documentation
  • strong supplier management skills
  • track record of delivering on commitments, timelines, budgets and quality metrics.
  • High bandwidth, with high technical acumen and strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and creative problem solving. Ability to provide technical and operational leadership
 
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Has the ability to travel 20% of the time (including international).
  • Work with a sense of urgency: Leads the team to deliver on development milestone commitments.
  • Process oriented with strong operating mechanisms.
  • Strong technical writing skills to create and lead the delivery of production and service documentation
  • Demonstrates clear and thoughtful communication.
  • Demonstrates risk retirement analysis and problem resolution
